Enjoyed our stay, plan to return

We had a lovely stay. The rooms are nicely furnished, very clean, and the owners are very organized and responsive. They kept us up to date on the local status on the volcanic activity (everything was fine). We were greeted with a warm welcome and yummy homemade breakfasts including a combination of fresh fruits, homemade banana or pineapple-coconut bread and a protein such as a frittata or yogurt. The linens, towels and shower products are nice. The breakfast nook is well thought out and included items for coffee & tea, full place settings, salt and pepper as well as a micro and fridge. There is a beautiful rainforest walk and the lanai faces a large yard. We appreciated the detailed area/accommodation information provided in the room (the most complete we have ever seen). About the volcanic activity - the air quality was better here than in Kona.
Wonderful and relaxing place to stay

We stayed in the Red Ginger Room at this B&B, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Although the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park was closed during our visit, Hale 'Ohu is perfectly situated for visiting not only the Park but many other attractions on the island, including Panulu'u Beach, Naalehu, and Pāhoa. The breakfast each morning was fabulous, the rooms are very high quality, and Gabrielle and Nicole are charming and knowledgeable to boot. We fully recommend staying here, but you'll find that one night isn't enough!

We loved the place because of its well appointed impecable rooms and beautiful surroundings. The gardens are green and lush. I booked our trip before the current park closure but decided to still go to Volcano. That was a great decision. The place was so beautiful we decided to stay-in the day after check-in so we could just relax and enjoy the property. Even though the park is closed this is a great 1 or 2 day stop to enjoy the climate and flora. It is so different from the rest of the island (such as the arid Kohala coast). Additionally there are day trips possible from this location such as to Hilo or to the south (black sand beach etc). The only effect we felt from the eruption are the frequent but mostly light earthquakes.
